What is Green Tea Shot?

A green tea shot is a popular mixed drink served in bars and pubs. Despite its name, it doesn’t actually contain any green tea. Instead, it’s made with a combination of Jameson Irish whiskey, peach schnapps, and sour mix. The drink is prepared by mixing these ingredients in a shaker with ice, then strained into a shot glass.

The resulting drink has a sweet and slightly tart flavor, with hints of peach and citrus from the schnapps and sour mix. Despite its simplicity, the green tea shot has gained popularity due to its refreshing taste and smooth finish. It’s often enjoyed as a quick and enjoyable way to kickstart a night out or as a fun addition to social gatherings.

Equipment

  • Cocktail shaker
  • Shot glasses
  • Jigger or measuring cup

Ingredients

  • 30 ml Jameson Irish whiskey
  • 30 ml peach schnapps
  • 40 ml sour mix

Instructions

  • Fill the cocktail shaker with ice: Add enough ice to fill the shaker about halfway.
  • Measure and pour the ingredients: Using a jigger or measuring cup, pour each of Jameson Irish whiskey and peach schnapps into the cocktail shaker. Then, add sour mix, depending on your taste preference.
  • Shake well: Securely close the lid of the cocktail shaker and shake vigorously for about 10-15 seconds. This will thoroughly mix the ingredients and chill the drink.
  • Strain into shot glasses: Using a strainer or the built-in strainer of the shaker, pour the mixture from the shaker into shot glasses.
  • Serve and enjoy: Your green tea shots are now ready to be served! Enjoy them responsibly with friends or at your next gathering.

Notes

Adjust sweetness: If you prefer a sweeter shot, you can increase the amount of peach schnapps or add a splash of simple syrup. Conversely, if you prefer a tangier taste, you can increase the amount of sour mix.
Chill ingredients: For the best flavor and consistency, ensure that all the ingredients, especially the Jameson Irish whiskey and peach schnapps, are chilled before mixing.
Shake thoroughly: Shaking the ingredients with ice not only chills the drink but also helps to properly blend the flavors together. Shake vigorously for the best results.

Time for the Tips!

Quality Ingredients: Opt for high-quality ingredients whenever possible. Using top-shelf Irish whiskey and peach schnapps can elevate the flavor of your green tea shots.

Pre-Chill Shot Glasses: For an extra refreshing experience, chill your shot glasses in the freezer before serving. This helps to keep the shots cold and enhances the overall drinking experience.

Fresh Sour Mix: Consider making your own sour mix using fresh lemon or lime juice and simple syrup. This can add a brighter, more vibrant flavor compared to store-bought mixes.

Experiment with Garnishes: Get creative with your garnishes, Aside from lemon slices, you can try adding lime wedges, mint leaves, or even a splash of grenadine for added color and flavor.
