Hey y’all, it’s your friend Austin Carter from Beyond the Bayou Blog here! I’ve got a real treat for your coffee and chocolate lovers out there.
Now, I’ll admit, I’m a bit of a caffeine fiend. Can’t start my day without that first cup of joy, you know? But sometimes, especially on those hot Louisiana afternoons, I need an extra pick-me-up that’s cool and refreshing. That’s where this chocolate cream cold brew comes in.
I remember back when I was a kid, my mama would make us these rich, creamy chocolate milk drinks as an after-school treat with my favorite Blueberry Muffin. They were heaven in a glass! Well, this recipe takes that nostalgic flavor and gives it a grown-up twist with the addition of bold, smooth cold brew coffee.
The result is a decadent, yet energizing beverage that’s perfect for beating that afternoon slump. Trust me, folks, one sip of this chocolatey goodness, and you’ll be feeling revived and ready to take on the rest of your day. Let me show you how it’s done!

Try These Variations for Sure!
- Dairy-Free/Vegan – To make this recipe suitable for vegans, replace the heavy cream with a non-dairy alternative like coconut cream or soy creamer. Use non-dairy milk such as almond milk or oat milk, and use vegan malted milk powder.
- Decaf – If you don’t need a caffeine boost in the afternoon like me, feel free to use decaf cold brew instead!
- Other Flavors – You can get creative here since chocolate goes well with many other flavors. You can use hazelnut or almond syrup instead of vanilla to get a candy bar-like taste. Try raspberry syrup for a raspberry mocha-like experience. Drizzle on some caramel sauce for a classic combination of coffee, chocolate, and caramel, or sprinkle on some cinnamon for a warm flavor. The possibilities are endless!

For the Chocolate Cream Cold Brew recipe, I think adding a sprinkle of cinnamon could add a nice twist.
