Equipment

  • Mixing Bowl
  • Measuring Cups
  • Spatula
  • Cake Pan
  • Cake Tester
  • Plastic Scoop
  • Shallow Pan
  • Food Processor

Ingredients

  • 1 box vanilla cake mix
  • 1 box chocolate cake mix
  • small tootsie rolls
  • 1 5.1 oz pkg vanilla instant pudding
  • green food coloring
  • 1 pkg golden oreos

Instructions

  • Mix and bake the cake according to the package instructions, then let it cool.
  • Make the pudding as directed and chill it in the fridge.
  • Crush the Oreos in a food processor, saving some for later. Add green food coloring to a portion for that “litter” effect.
  • Crumble the cooled cakes into a clean kitty litter tray. Layer with half of the plain cookie crumbs and half of the chilled pudding.
  • Soften the Tootsie Rolls in the microwave and shape them into “poops,” then scatter them over the cake.
  • Sprinkle the remaining plain cookie crumbs and green crumbs over the top. Finish with more Tootsie Roll “poops” and serve with a clean pooper scooper.

Notes

  • Try using cheesecake-flavored pudding instead of vanilla for a different twist, or go even further and use pistachio pudding for a more playful and gross appearance.
  • Don’t worry about the cake falling through the pooper scooper; the cake mixture is thick enough to hold its shape and scoop easily.

Time for The Tips!

  1. Get creative with pudding flavors! While vanilla pudding works great, you can switch things up by using cheesecake pudding for a different twist. For those looking to amp up the “gross factor,” pistachio pudding can add an extra level of visual interest.
  2. Don’t stress about the baking pans. Since the cakes will be crumbled anyway, it doesn’t matter what you bake them in. Use whatever you have on hand or prefer.
  3. Don’t worry about the cake falling through the scoop. The cake mixture will be thick enough to hold its shape, ensuring that it won’t slip through the holes of the pooper scooper. So scoop away without any concerns!
