- green onions for garnishing
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter
Hamburger Patties:
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 1/2 tsp seasoning salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 1/2 lb ground beef
Gravy:

Instructions

- Shape into thick patties, ensuring they are smooth on the edges. Expect some shrinkage during cooking.
- Fry each patty in a pan over medium heat for 3-5 minutes on each side until well done. Place finished patties on a paper towel-lined plate to absorb excess grease.
- Mix beef stock, shoyu, Worcestershire sauce, ketchup, and cornstarch in a bowl. Whisk until the cornstarch is well combined.
- In the same pan used for patties, caramelize onions in one tablespoon of butter for a minute. Add mushrooms if desired.
- Melt the remaining butter, pour in the gravy mix, and stir until it thickens and simmers. Melt a slice of butter in a frying pan.
- Crack an egg into the pan and cook it sunny side up or as per your preference. Set aside the cooked egg.
- Scoop a generous serving of hot white rice onto a plate. Place a hamburger patty on top and drizzle with the prepared gravy.
- Crown the dish with the cooked egg and garnish with green onions. Serve your Loco Moco hot and savor the deliciousness!

Time For The Tips!
- Patty Perfection: To keep those patties juicy, refrain from pressing them down with the spatula while cooking. We want all that flavorful goodness locked in!
- Gravy Galore: Opt for low-sodium soy sauce or shoyu to control the saltiness of your gravy. Balancing flavors is key, and this subtle tweak can make a world of difference.
- Sizzle with Umami: Boost the savory vibes by adding a dash of Worcestershire sauce to the gravy. Umami overload in the best way possible!
- Mushroom Majesty: If you’re diving into the mushroom gravy variation, mix up your mushroom choices. Combine different varieties for a rich and diverse flavor profile.
- Crispy Egg Edges: Want that perfect sunny-side-up egg? Make sure the edges get a bit crispy while keeping the yolk delightfully runny. It’s a game-changer in every bite!
