Ingredients

  • 2 2/3 cups all purpose flour spooned and leveled
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
  • 12 Tbsp. salted butter cold and cut into cubes
  • 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 1/4 cups dark brown sugar packed
  • 1 large egg yolk
  • 1/3 cup pure maple syrup
  • 2 tsp. vanilla extract or 1 tsp. maple extract and 1 tsp. vanilla for more maple flavor

For rolling

  • 3 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon

For the glaze

  • 2 Tbsp. salted butter
  • 1/4 cup + 1 Tbsp. pure maple syrup
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 3/4 cup powdered sugar
  • pinch of salt

Instructions

  • Line two cookie sheets with parchment paper or silicone baking mats. Set aside.

  • In a large bowl, whisk together flour, salt, baking soda, baking powder, and cinnamon. Set aside.

  • In a stand mixer, cream cold cubed butter and brown sugar on low, increasing to medium speed for 3-4 minutes.

  • Add egg yolk, maple syrup, and vanilla extract; mix until combined.

  • Gradually add dry ingredients on medium-low speed until just combined.

  • Scoop dough with a 2 Tbsp. cookie scoop, place on a plate or baking sheet, and chill for 30 minutes to 1 hour.
  • Mix granulated sugar and cinnamon in a small dish. Preheat oven to 350°F. Roll chilled dough balls in the cinnamon sugar and place on prepared baking sheets.

  • Bake for 10 minutes. Cool on the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a cooling rack. Drizzle with maple glaze and enjoy!
