Vanilla Mug Cake Recipe

Hello foodies, Anne Carter is here at Beyond The Bayou Blog to share delicious recipes with you to make you love through recreating various food recipes. One such special recipe is today on my hand: Vanilla mug cake.

Imagine it’s raining outside, and you’re in the mood for something sweet. That’s exactly where I found myself. I glanced at my pantry and spotted the vanilla extract. Ding! The idea struck me – why not whip up a vanilla mug cake?

Grabbing my favorite mug and a few basic ingredients, I mixed them up, adding a dash of colorful sprinkles for fun. The microwave hummed as it worked magic, filling my kitchen with that oh-so-cozy smell.

Finally, it was time. I took a cautious bite of the cake. Oh boy, it was like a warm hug for my taste buds! Each spoonful was pure happiness, making me forget all about the gloomy weather outside.

So, if you want to give it a try, grab your apron, and let’s get baking! Who knows, maybe next time we can experiment with another soda flavor.

  • ¼ cup +1 ½ teaspoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons sugar

  • dash salt
  • 2 tablespoon butter melted
  • 3 tablespoon milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon sprinkles

  • Add milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract, and stir until smooth. Don’t forget to scrape the bottom!
  • Sprinkle in some sprinkles for extra fun.

Notes

  1. Every microwave is different, so there’s no one-size-fits-all cook time. Start with 70 seconds, then give it a breather for a minute to cool down a bit. Check if it’s set – if not, add another 15-25 seconds. Oh, and don’t forget to let it chill for another minute in the microwave before digging in.
  2. Here’s the secret to mug cakes: stop cooking them before you think they’re done. Yeah, you heard me right! You want that soft, gooey goodness in the middle, and the cake keeps on cooking even after it’s out of the microwave. So, trust the process and pull it out a tad early. Your taste buds will thank you later!

Time for The Tips!

  1. Mix with care: While it’s tempting to vigorously mix your batter until it’s perfectly smooth, resist the urge! Overmixing can lead to a dense and tough cake. Just blend until all the ingredients are combined for that perfect texture.
  2. Microwave with caution: Keep an eye on your cake in the microwave. Since microwaves vary in power, your cake might be ready sooner than expected. Check it after 45 seconds and add more time if needed to avoid overcooking.
  3. Oven option: No microwave? No problem! You can still enjoy this quick cake by baking it in a conventional oven. Preheat to 350°F (180°C) and bake for approximately 10 minutes. Just ensure that your mug is oven-safe to avoid any mishaps.
  4. Mind your mug: Before you start microwaving or baking, double-check that your mug is safe for the task. Avoid using mugs with any metal components or metallic paint, as they can cause sparks or other hazards in the microwave. Safety first!
