– Mixing Bowl – Measuring Spoons – Spatula – Plastic Wrap – Rimmed baking sheet – Silicone mat or parchment paper
– 1 cup raw flax seeds – ¾ teaspoon salt – ¼ teaspoon garlic powder – ¼ teaspoon onion powder – 1 pinch cayenne pepper – 1 cup cold water
– Place flax seeds in a mixing bowl. – Add salt, garlic powder, onion powder, and cayenne pepper. Pour in cold water and stir. – Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight.
– Preheat oven to 200°F (95°C). Line a rimmed baking sheet with a silicone mat or parchment paper. – Transfer soaked flax seeds to the prepared baking sheet. Spread out into a thin, flat rectangle, about 1/8 inch thick, using a spatula.
– Score the rectangle into about 32 small rectangles. – Bake in the preheated oven for about 3 hours until the flax seeds have darkened and contracted slightly. – Cool in the oven with the door ajar, then break into individual crackers.
