– 1 small onion – 2 stalks celery – 2 cloves garlic minced – 2 tablespoon olive oil – 2 28 oz cans crushed tomatoes 1.6 kg – 1/4 cup basil roughly chopped – 1/2 teaspoon salt to taste – 1/2 teaspoon pepper
1. In a large saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. 2. Add the finely chopped onion, celery, and minced garlic; cook until tender. 3. Stir in the crushed tomatoes, chopped basil, salt, and pepper, then bring to a boil.
4. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low, cover, and let the sauce simmer for 40 minutes. 5. Remove from heat and serve immediately or let it cool completely for storage.
