- 2 cups milk
- 1 1/2 tablespoons active dry yeast 2 packets
- 6 tablespoons brown sugar
- 4 tablespoons butter melted
- 5 to 5 1/2 cups flour
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1/3 cup baking soda
- 3 cups warm water
- Coarse salt
- 8 tablespoons butter melted
Warm milk in microwave (1.5 mins, 110ºF). Stir in yeast and 1 tbsp brown sugar; rest 10 mins.
Combine with melted butter, remaining brown sugar in bowl or mixer.
Gradually add flour and salt, knead 10 mins until smooth.
Place in greased bowl, cover with cling wrap, rise 1 hour.
Preheat oven to 450ºF. Punch down dough, divide into 12-14 pieces, roll into ropes.
Mix warm water and baking soda in bowl. Dip dough pieces, place on greased sheet, sprinkle with salt.
Bake 6-10 mins until browned. Melt remaining butter, dip hot pretzel bites.
