Ingredients

  • 1 cup raw flax seeds
  • ¾ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¼ teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 pinch cayenne pepper
  • 1 cup cold water

Instructions

  • Place flax seeds in a mixing bowl.
  • Add salt, garlic powder, onion powder, and cayenne pepper. Pour in cold water and stir.
  • Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight.
  • Preheat oven to 200°F (95°C). Line a rimmed baking sheet with a silicone mat or parchment paper.
  • Transfer soaked flax seeds to the prepared baking sheet. Spread out into a thin, flat rectangle, about 1/8 inch thick, using a spatula.
  • Score the rectangle into about 32 small rectangles.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for about 3 hours until the flax seeds have darkened and contracted slightly.
  • Cool in the oven with the door ajar, then break into individual crackers.
