Ingredients

  • 1 small onion
  • 2 stalks celery
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 28 oz cans crushed tomatoes 1.6 kg
  • 1/4 cup basil roughly chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper

Instructions

  • In a large saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat.
  • Add the finely chopped onion, celery, and minced garlic; cook until tender.
  • Stir in the crushed tomatoes, chopped basil, salt, and pepper, then bring to a boil.
  • Once boiling, reduce the heat to low, cover, and let the sauce simmer for 40 minutes.
  • Remove from heat and serve immediately or let it cool completely for storage.
