Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C).
In a small bowl, mix together garlic, rosemary, thyme, olive oil, salt, and pepper to form a paste.
Rub the herb mixture all over the prime rib, ensuring it's evenly coated.
Place the roast bone-side down on a rack in a roasting pan.
Roast for 15 minutes at 450°F (230°C) to sear the meat.
Reduce the oven temperature to 325°F (165°C) and continue roasting until the internal temperature reaches your desired doneness (about 20 minutes per pound for medium-rare).
Remove from the oven and let it rest, tented with foil, for at least 15 minutes before carving.
